Kazuyuki Okamoto

Kazuyuki Okamoto

Okamoto was born in Hokkaido where winter dominates as much as half a year. A wide range of flowers bloom all at once when the long-awaited spring finally arrives. Thanks to his mother being a flower arrangement instructor, he had, since his childhood, an ample opportunity to be in touch with a multitude of flowers, honing his esthetic sensibilities and deepening his interest in nature. He made up his mind to become a professional photographer while he was in high school. After studying photography at a school in Tokyo, he worked for an advertisement photo studio for several years. With that experience, he set up his own firm, Studio K2, in his 20’s. Once he decided to make it his lifetime’s work to photograph flowers, he started holding a series of private photo exhibitions. As a result, he has received some offers to acquire his pictures from some art museums. His efforts culminated, several years ago, in a photo collection using high-definition printing. Of late, he has been holding exhibitions outside of Hokkaido and contributing photos to photo series in several newspapers.
